I’m hearing Wedding Bells

In Uncategorized on October 28, 2008 at 8:14 pm

It seems  to finally be on the horizon. I guess the Mr. needed the 3rd child as proof of our commitment. I think I’ll have to sign the wedding register in blood.

We would have liked a double wedding with a very close friend of ours, except for the simple fact that it is really hard to work around everyone’s wishes. We’ll have to see how that plays out.

That’s all I have time for today, there could be more interesting news on the horizon, I’ll keep you posted.

It should be branded a Crackberry…

I’m not the only one who would admit to feeling completely naked with out it. I’ve talked to many folks who share the same stories as I, about the stupid things that we do read new messages on our Blackberry. My favourite is “I only read the messages at red lights”.

With the influx of new message availability from email, SMS, telephone, chats and third party apps like the cool little Facebook application that I downloaded for my Blackberry, the temptation is becoming more and more irrestible.

Yes of course, I resist as much as I can. But, if I’m waiting for a message that I am really anxious about, I’ll go to just about any lengths to keep posted, even reading it while driving. I know it’s stupid and I know I am not alone.

I’ve given it alot of thought and I cannot yet put my finger on why this stupid little device and it’s–mostly insignificant messages–are so completely riveting. Why is it that I’ll do just about anything to keep informed? I’ll let you know when I figure it out, God knows it won’t come in the form of a message on my Blackberry unless there’s a third party app called Self-Discovery for Dummies.

I’m curious as to what others have to say about it so, I am posting a poll, please take a minute and complete it:

Baby Screetch

This is not the Newfoundland type. It’s of the Miah type.

Sunday was Miah’s second Jazz gig. To my surprise, she was hailed as the youngest member of Ottawa’s Capital Vox Jazz Choir. She was very attentive for all the singing but was a bit bored during the sermon. Doesn’t matter how young, you could likely say that of any child. She even sang quielty along cooing during select parts, especially during the choir director, Elise Letourneau’s beautiful solo piece.

It was the apres-choir socializing that was of much more interest to young Miah. The group decided, upon leaving the church, that the famous Newport restaurant was the venue of choice for our post-gig snack, so we all headed over in the brisk evening air. Miah had fallen asleep during the last sermon so, she was oblivous to the quick shuffling through the traffic.

Somehow, it was the warmth of the restaurant that seem to wake her. She took some time to adjust and look around, there were lots of TVs to watch, she loves that! After just enough time to order had elapsed, she seemed to remember that there had been some singing going on in the not-so-distant past. Having just discovered a high-pitched range to her voice this week, she thought it would be appropriate to start letting everyone know that she was there. And it was just that she did.

The Newport is not what I would call a quiet place and when Miah starting her squealing, er, I mean singing, the room, and time, stopped. My ears were taken hostage by the frequency that she was able to hit and I thought I would never hear again. Every single patron immediately turned expecting to see a murder or similar life-threatening event. Even the cook came running out of the back to see what the earth shattering sound was about. There was a brief moment of silence when everyone realized that it was nothing but a “singing” baby, and then a roar of laughter filled the room.

Let’s just say that I believe that Miah will be an entertainer. The more people laughed, the more she squealed and the bigger the grin got that was stretched across her pudgy little 4-month old face.

She is a doll, and, clearly, she will be a ham. Not hard to believe she is Mario’s daughter.
